Barcelona star Dani Olmo is expected to continue in a deep-lying role in the middle of the park once more over the weeks ahead.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Wednesday provided an insight into the situation.
Midfielder Olmo was for his part made use of in a new position by manager Hansi Flick this past weekend.
After Marc Casadó was forced into a last-minute withdrawal from Barcelona’s XI to face Celta Vigo, his fellow Spanish international was tasked with filling in.
And Olmo, to his credit, went on to thoroughly impress in his new berth.
Despite being used to lining out in a far more advanced role behind the striker, the 27-year-old showcased his versatility courtesy of a disciplined, quality-filled showing at Balaídos.
In turn, it should not come as a major surprise to learn of Hansi Flick preparing to lean on Olmo for the weeks to come.
With Pedri and Gavi sidelined, Casadó recovering from his knock, and Frenkie de Jong suspended, the former RB Leipzig man looks likely to be fielded at the base of midfield once again against Athletic Club next time out, and potentially beyond.
