Barcelona star Marc-André ter Stegen’s departure from the club has on Thursday moved a significant step closer to coming to fruition.

This comes amid confirmation that the German will imminently depart the Blaugrana’s training base, to seal a move to Dutch heavyweights Ajax for the duration of the 2026/27 campaign.

Talks between Barcelona and Ajax have long been in full swing, over the terms of a loan agreement for Ter Stegen. The parties recently reached an accord, which looked set to culminate in an immediate transfer announcement.

The deal then appeared to have stalled, over issues between the goalkeeper and the Camp Nou brass regarding wages and taxes.

But as alluded to above, on Thursday, any such problems appear to have been put to bed. As per a report from Spanish outlet Cadena SER:

‘Ter Stegen will leave Barcelona’s training camp (in England) today. The German international plans to visit Amsterdam in the next few hours to complete his transfer (to Ajax).’
