Barcelona star was warned about one teammate before his arrival at the club | OneFootball

Barcelona star Wojciech Szczęsny was sent something of a warning regarding the stubbornness of a fellow member of Hansi Flick’s squad, prior to penning terms with the club.

That’s according to Polish journalist Mateusz Swiecicki, who points towards Marc-André ter Stegen as the player in question.

Shot-stopper Szczęsny was of course brought in as emergency cover at Barcelona during the 2024/25 campaign.

As much came after then-Blaugrana no.1 Ter Stegen was condemned to a long-term spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.

Szczęsny for his part quickly established himself as a ley figure in Hansi Flick’s XI, going on to play a starring role in the club’s domestic treble.

All the while, though, the former Arsenal and Juventus man was aware that an awkward situation may well await him upon Ter Stegen’s return.

As per the aforementioned Mateusz Swiecicki, speaking on the Meczyki channel (as cited by Diario Sport):

“When he arrived at Barcelona, Szczęsny received information that when Marc returned, he had to be understanding with him because he is not an easy man.”
