FC Barcelona extended their winning streak across all competitions to six games as they beat RCD Mallorca 3-0 at the Spotify Camp Nou earlier today.
Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring for the reigning champions, before Lamine Yamal and Marc Bernal added two more in the second period to secure three points for their team.
The victory sees Barcelona open up a four-point lead over arch-rivals Real Madrid, who are in for a tricky test against Valencia on Sunday night.
It was a special game for Bernal as he scored his first-ever senior goal for Barcelona.
Having come on as a substitute in the second period, the 18-year-old starlet, who had been out for over a year due to an ACL injury not very long ago, struck a brilliant goal to make it 3-0 for the Catalans today.
Speaking to the media after the game, the La Masia graduate could not hide his joy, as he said: “I’m very happy, it was very special.”
Describing the goal from his perspective, Bernal added: “When I saw Fermin watching me, I spotted the space. I didn’t hesitate and went for it. I was going to shoot with my right foot, but I saw Maffeo and, since I trust my left more, I cut inside.
“Actually, Mascarell got a touch on it. It made me incredibly happy. These are moments you don’t even dream of as a kid.”

When asked about his thoughts after scoring, Bernal got a bit emotional, as he said: “When I scored the goal, I thought a lot about last year, about how tough it was. It’s a huge feeling, also for my family. I thought of them.”
While he has had to be patient and bide his time this season, Bernal is slowly gaining more game time under Flick and the player insisted that he was feeling better with each passing match.
“From the beginning, I knew I’d improve as the season progressed. Now I’m much better, in better shape. I want to make the most of every minute I get,” Bernal stated.
Bernal also explained that one of the keys to the team’s strong performances lies in what happens inside the dressing room, saying:
“We’re in a very good dynamic. The most important thing is the relationship we have with each other, even though there’s competition. The relationship is very healthy; we all get along very well.”
