It has been 18 months since construction on the Spotify Camp Nou got underway. The project continues to generate a lot of excitement at Barcelona, although it is one that is not on schedule.
Barcelona had initially set out the objective of returning to their iconic home stadium by the end of 2024, although that will not happen now. There are genuine fears that they may not be able to go back until the start of next season, although those within Can Barca continue to hold on to hope that Hansi Flick’s side could play their first match in February.
As per Relevo, some Barcelona officials see the fixture against Rayo Vallecano – set for the 16th of February – as the earliest chance of a return to the Spotify Camp Nou. However, that is seen as an “impossible dream”.
Limak continue to work on construction, and they have been told to preparing for its opening “as soon as possible”. Barcelona will be desperate to return because of the finances that come along with returning home, although they will surely be waiting longer than expected.
