Robert Lewandowski has stolen the show once again, starring in Barcelona’s brilliant second-half attacking display against Girona.
While Barça were heading into half-time with a slender one-goal lead, Girona managed to equalise in the 53rd minute through Arnaut Danjuma.
However, then came Lewandowski, scoring a brace to help Barcelona secure a 4-1 win in the Catalan derby, with Ferran Torres delivering the final blow in the 86th minute.
Lewandowski’s brace on the night didn’t just help Barcelona secure a crucial victory, it also helped the Polish international create a new record in La Liga.
Indeed, Lewandowski has now overtaken Ferenc Puskás as the player with the most number of goals after turning 36.
Heading into this game, Lewandowski had scored 20 goals after turning 36, just one behind Puskas’ 21 goals which were scored during his time at Real Madrid.

However, thanks to the brace, Lewandowski has overtaken the Hungarian football legend and is now the holder of the new record in La Liga.
Heading into this game, Lewandowski was already in a stellar run of form, having scored in seven of the last eight league matches.
The Pole’s brilliant run of form has been integral in helping Barcelona to retain their dominant position in the league table.
Not to mention, Lewandowski is also leading the goalscoring charts in La Liga this season and is well on his way to claim yet another Pichichi trophy.
The brace against Girona means the former Bayern Munich forward has scored 25 goals this season, three ahead of second-placed Kylian Mbappe, who has 22.
