Still a teenager, Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal is already one of football’s most talked-about players for all the reasons – both right and wrong.
While his performances on the field have always been a matter of amazement given his age, there is also an equal amount of obsession from the media over his personal life which has been rocky in various respects.
The player, however, has always been one to show that external noise does not affect him and has let the numbers and visual tests do the talking for him.
As relayed by SPORT, Yamal is now closing in on another special all-time record – one that is currently held by Real Madrid talisman Kylian Mbappe.
Currently, the Frenchman is the player with the most goals in major domestic leagues before turning 19 years of age as he scored 23 times in Ligue 1 before hitting that age limit.

Yamal already has 17 goals for Barcelona in La Liga since his debut and is thus well placed to beat that record this season. After all, the player still has long before the time runs out.
His birthday falls in July, meaning that he has the entire ongoing season to score seven more goals and break that record – a feat that is anything but impossible given his quality.
So far this season, Yamal has already scored three league goals for Barcelona in seven games – and the fact that he is slowly recovering from his pubalgia only improves his chances of breaking that record should he manage to stay fit.
That, however, will largely depend on how Hansi Flick manages his game-time, and all signs currently point to a more sustainable mix of minutes for the player moving forward this season.
