The 36-year-old Polish marksman is enjoying a rich run of form, having notched an impressive 14 goals in just 11 matches in La Liga already.

In fact, the former Bayern Munich hitman’s latest brace against Real Madrid joins a collection of braces he’s already bagged this season against Valencia, Villarreal, and Sevilla.

The twin-strike against Los Blancos has further strengthened Lewandowski’s grip at the top of the La Liga scoring charts making him the favourite to walk away with the Pichichi Trophy – a title he claimed in his debut season with Barcelona in 2022/23.

The illustrious list includes Barcelona legends Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Lionel Messi (who did it four times), Thierry Henry, Luis Suarez (twice), and more recently, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Now, Lewandowski also joins the pantheon of legends as one of seven players to have scored a brace against Real Madrid in a Clasico this century.

Meanwhile, Barça’s ace goalscorer set two more remarkable records in the storied rivalry between Spain’s biggest clubs

At 36 years and 66 days old, he became now the third-oldest player to achieve score a brace in a Clasico, with only legends Ferenc Puskas (36 years, 257 days) and Alfredo Di Stefano (36 years, 88 days) managing it at a more advanced age.

Perhaps most impressively, Lewandowski’s quick-fire double on Saturday stands as the fastest brace in El Clasico history.

The 36-year-old has recovered his best form this season under Hansi Flick and has been key to the brilliant start that Barcelona are enjoying.
