Barcelona superstar rules himself out of national team fixtures in June

FC Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski has announced that he will not take part in Poland’s international matches during the post-season international break in June.
The striker shared the news on social media, stating that the decision was made jointly with the national team coach. Michal Probierz, to allow him to rest and recover after a demanding season with the Catalans.
In a message addressed directly to his fans, Lewandowski explained:
“Dear fans. Due to the circumstances and the intensity of the club season, the coach and I have decided together that this time I will not participate in the Polish national team camp in June.
“Playing in white and red has always been a dream come true for me, but sometimes the body signals that it needs a temporary break. I support the players with all my heart and I believe we have beautiful moments and many goals to achieve. See you soon!”

Lewandowski enjoyed a brilliant season with Barcelona, playing an important part in the club’s domestic treble success under Hansi Flick.
The Poland captain ended the campaign with 42 goals for the Blaugrana across all competitions this season but ended up missing out on the Pichichi Trophy and the European Golden Boot.
Having had some injury issues towards the end of the season, Lewandowski cited physical fatigue and the need to recharge as the reason for his absence from the Poland national team as they take on Moldova and Finland in June.
Barcelona are not scheduled to return to action until the end of the second week of July, when the start pre-season, meaning Lewandowski will enjoy an extended period of rest.
