According to a fresh update from Fotomac, Barcelona look set to miss out on one of their forward targets, as Marcus Rashford has reportedly given the green light to a move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

The Manchester United forward, who no longer features in the plans of new manager Ruben Amorim, is edging closer to a surprising switch to Turkey.

Fenerbahce’s director of football, Devin Ozek, is expected to fly to England this weekend to finalise the move.

He will meet with Manchester United officials and Rashford’s representatives to seal the agreement.

The 27-year-old is being lined up for a loan move with an option to buy, a deal that has the full support of Fenerbahce coach Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho’s role key in Rashford decision

A few days ago, reports confirmed that Mourinho personally reached out to Rashford to discuss the potential transfer.

The two share a strong bond dating back to the Portuguese manager’s spell at Old Trafford, where he gave Rashford his first real opportunity with the senior team.

Rashford reportedly still sees Mourinho as a mentor or even a ‘father figure’ in football.

With Rashford open to reuniting with his former coach, the Turkish club made their move swiftly once the player responded positively.

He would arrive as a versatile attacker, capable of playing on either wing or centrally, an asset that Mourinho values greatly.

Barcelona’s backup plan slips away

For Barcelona, this development comes as a blow. The Catalan club have been keeping a close eye on Rashford’s situation at Manchester United, viewing him as a possible backup option if their main target, Luis Diaz, proves too expensive.

With Liverpool demanding a high transfer fee for the Colombian, Rashford’s potential availability on loan made him a more affordable alternative.

However, it now seems that Barcelona will have to look elsewhere. Unless something changes dramatically in the coming days, Rashford appears to be headed for the Turkish Super Lig, leaving Barça with fewer options in the forward market.
