Barcelona are always attentive to the transfer market, and over the last 12-18 months, there has been a particular focus on signing younger players with a view to bringing them into the first team in the years to come. They have already brought in the likes of Hamza Abdelkarim and Jesse Bisiwu, and while a move for Manchester United’s JJ Gabriel is also being considered, he’s not the only one that the sporting department is following.

It’s not a surprise that Barcelona are particularly focused on bringing in top striker prospects, given that it’s an area of relative weakness in Hansi Flick’s squad. Their failure to sign Julian Alvarez in the summer has created an opening, and while Abdelkarim is currently in the first team alongside the likes of Raphinha and Gabriel Jesus, there is a desire to add further options.

One player that could sign is Gabriel Rajkovic. According to Norwegian television company TV2 (via MD), Barcelona have sent scouts to watch the 15-year-old, who recently became the youngest goalscorer in the history of the Eliteserien (15y 5m 15d), outdoing the likes of Erling Haaland (17y 16d) in the process.

Barcelona have big advantage over Premier League clubs

It’s no surprise that Barcelona are not alone in the interest in Rajkovic, with the report noting that a number of Premier League clubs are also following his situation. However, the Catalans have a big advantage in the race to sign him, given they can bring him in from when he turns 16 in February, whereas the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea are required to wait until he turns 18 in 2029.

It will be interesting to see whether Barcelona make a move for Rajkovic in 2027. Given the potential he has already shown in Norway, it would surely be wise to pursue his signature before they lose their advantage to the Premier League clubs.
