Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, whose current contract concludes at the end of the season, has confirmed that he is yet to receive any renewal proposal from the Premier League club.

This development has sparked interest across Europe, particularly from Barcelona, as they evaluate their attacking options for the future.

Salah, with his incredible skill set and experience, stands out as a potential acquisition who could make an immediate impact and so far, there has been no movement from Liverpool’s front.

“I’m probably more out than in,” admitted the Egyptian as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

“I didn’t receive any proposal. We’re almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club. I’m probably more out than in,” he added.

Barcelona have kept an eye

Barcelona have kept an eye on Salah in the past. During Xavi’s managerial tenure, the Egyptian forward was seen as a player capable of transforming the team with his unique abilities.

However, at that time, Salah was engaged in discussions to extend his stay at Liverpool, which complicated Barcelona’s plans.

The Catalan club was deterred from making a concrete offer due to the financial burden of his substantial salary, reportedly around €15 million per season.

The situation is different

Now, the situation appears different. Salah’s contract is nearing its conclusion, and his next move could be pivotal as he approaches the later stages of his career.

The lack of an extension offer from Liverpool could open the door for Barcelona to make a more serious attempt to secure his services. Given Barcelona’s ongoing search for reinforcements and Salah’s proven quality, he emerges as a desirable candidate.

For Barcelona, the timing could work in their favour. Salah’s availability on a free transfer at the end of the season could alleviate financial pressures, allowing the club to focus on meeting his wage demands.

Adding a player of his calibre without a transfer fee would be a significant boost for Barcelona, especially as they continue to rebuild under new management.
