Barcelona midfielder Noah Darvich is making strides toward a return to action as he has started training with the squad and could receive medical clearance in the coming days, according to reports from SPORT.

This season has been challenging for Darvich, who is in his second year with the Barcelona reserve team. After a period of adaptation last year, there were high expectations for the German midfielder to take a significant step forward.

However, his progress was hampered by a biceps femoris injury in his left leg. Despite these setbacks, his imminent return is promising news for Barça Atletic and potentially the senior team.

Darvich’s injury kept him sidelined for the past four matches, during which Barça Atletic managed only two draws and suffered two defeats. Prior to his injury, the young midfielder had played 15 matches this season.

This season was expected to be a breakthrough for Darvich, particularly with the appointment of Hansi Flick. Marcus Sorg, Flick’s assistant and an expert in German youth talent, was believed to be a key figure in nurturing Darvich’s development.

The midfielder even participated in the team’s preseason tour of the United States. However, his opportunities have been limited, with only one call-up for a league match against Celta Vigo in November, where he remained on the bench.

Darvich’s return could provide Barça Atletic with valuable options in attack. Before his injury, the coach had deployed him on the right wing due to other injuries within the squad, where he performed admirably despite being a central midfielder.

His form had been solid, with five consecutive starts, although physical discomfort eventually led to reduced playing time.

Now on the verge of recovery, Darvich’s comeback may inject new energy into the Barcelona reserve side, offering them much-needed creative solutions as they navigate the remainder of the season.
