Barcelona ‘to consider’ Vedat Muriqi as Mallorca prepare for Valencia

Sport reports that Barcelona are assessing options to strengthen their attack this summer, with Vedat Muriqi a leading option. The interest has not led to formal talks, and comes as Mallorca prepare for a crucial survival clash with Valencia.

Barcelona have mapped out the profile they want if the complicated pursuit of Julián Álvarez does not advance. They want a tall centre forward who pins defenders, attacks crosses and has elite experience.

Muriqi fits that brief. The Kosovo international is 1.94 metres, plays with his back to goal, creates space and is a major aerial threat. His LaLiga experience helps shorten any adaptation period.

The timing is delicate for Mallorca, who are fighting near the bottom and rely on Muriqi’s goals. His clause is 40 million euros, though a lower fee could be negotiated depending on the club’s situation at Son Moix.

Keeping him could be difficult if major summer bids arrive, especially from clubs with greater resources and European ambitions.

Barcelona are also exploring alternatives. Alexander Sørloth of Atlético de Madrid appeals for a similar physical profile and LaLiga know how, while Álvarez remains the headline aim amid internal doubt over affordability.

The market is yet to open, but Barcelona plan to move quietly across several fronts as they seek their next number nine. In Mallorca, on the brink of facing Valencia, Muriqi is again under the spotlight.
