On Saturday, the club’s socios approved a new €510 million debt issue, with €300 million allocated to Camp Nou and €210 million in additional operating loans.

The new borrowing is set to push total debt beyond €2 billion, potentially as high as €2.6 billion depending on repayment dates.

The Espai Barça project now carries an estimated €1.8 billion cost, triple the figure first presented in 2014.

The club hopes the stadium will be ready by the start of the 2028-29 season, when it will host the Champions League final.
