Barcelona will hold the official ceremony for Jules Kounde’s contract renewal today, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The event is set to take place in the afternoon at the club’s commercial office inside the Barça Store at Spotify Camp Nou, with president Joan Laporta in attendance.
It is to be noted that the French defender recently extended his stay at Barcelona until June 30, 2030.
While the club had already announced the agreement a week ago, today’s event will serve as the formal signing and celebration of his new deal.
Kounde joined Barcelona as a centre-back but has been consistently deployed as a right-back, both under Xavi Hernandez and now with Hansi Flick.
His adaptability has made him a crucial figure in the squad, with his work rate, discipline, and defensive quality earning praise from fans and the coaching staff.
Supporters have also grown fond of his personality, as he is often involved in charitable projects and community initiatives, adding to his strong connection with the club.
Last season, Kounde delivered one of the most memorable moments of Barcelona’s campaign.
In the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid, he scored the decisive goal in the 116th minute of extra time, sealing a dramatic 3-2 victory and helping Barcelona secure the treble.
Unfortunately, he ended the season sidelined with a muscle injury, which kept him out of the opening stages of La Liga, where he started on the bench in the match against Mallorca.
Now, with his future secured until 2030, Barcelona can count on Kounde as a long-term pillar in defence.
His commitment, versatility, and ability to perform in high-pressure moments make him an essential part of Hansi Flick’s plans as the club looks ahead to more success in the coming years.
