Barcelona could potentially be gearing up for a momentous night, as far as the ongoing transfer market is concerned.

That is because the club’s top target, Nico Williams, may soon offer his final decision amid intense speculation over a potential move away from Athletic Club.

A decision to come in next few hours

According to Diario SPORT, Nico could make a final decision on his future as soon as in the next few hours.

This comes on the back of renewed pressure from Athletic Club, who are reportedly gearing up for his exit, amid interest from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

As such, moving to Barcelona or PSG or staying at Athletic Club are the three top options in front of him.

Earlier in the summer, Nico sounded very apprehensive about a move away from Athletic Club. But his outlook appears to have changed following an excellent Euro 2024 campaign, where he gelled very well with Barcelona star Lamine Yamal.

Nico has even been spotted with Yamal recently amid speculation over a potential move away from Basque country.

Barcelona’s plan once Nico makes a decision

If Nico agrees to join Barcelona, the club will try to complete the transfer as soon as possible. The Catalans will then move on to signing Dani Olmo, though the operation may take longer.

If Nico denies a move to Barça, the club will immediately shift their attention to Olmo. The club have even proposed their first offer for the Spaniard, though it was immediately rejected.

As far as Nico is concerned, Barcelona are quite afraid of PSG’s interest in the player. The French giants, after all, are ready to fork out a lucrative contract for Nico, which is far more comprehensive than the Blaugrana’s proposal.

The Catalans, therefore, are desperately hoping for a positive response from Nico’s end, as the forward looks to take the next step in his career.
