With FC Barcelona seemingly undecided over whether to retain Marcus Rashford beyond his loan spell, the club are keeping an eye on wingers in the market.
One of the names being linked with the Catalans most prominently happens to be RB Leipzig speedster Yan Diomande.
Formerly of Leganes, the teenage forward has attracted the attention of Barça head coach Hansi Flick and is a name that could be considered for the summer of 2026.
However, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri (h/t SPORT), two Premier League clubs, Liverpool and Tottenham, have moved ahead of Barcelona in the race for Yan Diomande.
The 19-year-old starlet’s signing would always have been a major challenge for Barça, considering that Leipzig intend to sell him for a fee even higher than what Manchester City paid for Josko Gvardiol – close to €90 million.
If a transfer were to exceed that amount, it would become the most expensive sale in RB Leipzig’s history. They signed him last summer for around €20 million, roughly five times less than their current asking price.

A move of that magnitude is far more feasible for Premier League clubs, which is why Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have now taken the lead in the race and are seen as favourites to sign Diomande.
As per the report, both clubs have recently begun advanced talks with RB Leipzig to define the terms of a potential transfer, and there is a possibility that one of them could sign him in the winter window.
In 14 matches so far this season, Diomande has recorded four goals and four assists. Even if his numbers are not extraordinary, his dribbling ability, speed and fearlessness make him a real threat on the left side, and the reason major European clubs have him on their radar.
However, it seems like Barcelona might not be able to get their hands on the talented 19-year-old winger, with Liverpool and Tottenham taking the lead.
