La Liga heavyweights Barcelona have on Monday been afforded a pair of boosts on the personnel front. This comes amid confirmation of two leading members of Hansi Flick’s squad returning to group training.
First up comes Fermín López. Midfielder Fermín has of course been sidelined since late season. After being forced under the knife to repair a broken bone in his foot, the 23-year-old was forced to pull out of Spain’s ultimately triumphant World Cup squad.
He has spent recent weeks ramping up efforts towards a return to the pitch, with a view to recovering full fitness in time for the new campaign.
And if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, then Fermín appears to be on track for precisely that.
As per a report from journalist Víctor Navarro, the attack-minded midfielder returned to group training alongside the rest of Barcelona’s squad for the first time on Monday.
And Fermín is not the only one… The same report details that Ronald Araújo was spotted back in the thick of things in the Blaugrana’s pre-season session in England.
Stopper Araújo was also unable to take to the pitch on the international stage this summer, missing Uruguay’s three World Cup fixtures with a muscular complaint.
After spending recent days undergoing treatment, though, he too has been cleared for outdoor activities.
