A member of the summer transfer wishlist at La Liga giants Barcelona has been left taken aback by the disappointing nature of the Blaugrana’s opening proposal for his signature.

That’s according to club insider Joan Fontes, who points towards Alejandro Grimaldo as the player in question.

The name of defender Grimaldo has of course returned to the forefront of the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over recent days.

This comes after word was forthcoming that, amid a search for potential left-back reinforcements for next season, the Barcelona brass have earmarked the club’s former youth talent as a leading option.

So much so that the understanding is that Deco and co. recently moved forward with a proposal to Grimaldo himself.

To say that as much came up short, though, would be something of an understatement…

As per a report from the aforementioned Joan Fontes:

‘Barcelona have approached Alejandro Grimaldo about returning to the club. The release clause could be reduced to less than 20 million euros, but the offer to the player was so poor that the full-back was deeply upset by the proposal.’
