A player hotly tipped to take his talents to La Liga giants Barcelona tonight did his chances of securing a Blaugrana switch absolutely no harm.

As much came by way of his exploits on the continent.

The player in question? Jonathan David.

The name of frontman David has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of recent days.

This comes after word was forthcoming that the Canadian – ahead of the expiration of his contract with LOSC Lille next summer – has been identified as a transfer target on the part of Barcelona.

And, safe to say, on Wednesday, David could not have done much more to endear himself further to the Camp Nou brass.

Featuring from the off in Lille’s Champions League showdown with Real Madrid, the talented frontman notched the only goal in a shock 1-0 victory for Les Dogues.

If scoring winners against Barcelona’s arch rivals doesn’t represent the perfect ‘come-and-get-me’ plea to the Catalans, then nothing will…
