FC Barcelona see Marc Bernal as a top talent who must be protected. That is exactly why the club remains so cautious with his recovery. Moreover, the Catalan giants are also looking to wrap up his contract renewal as soon as possible.
According to the latest update provided by Jose Alvarez, Barça is looking to renew Bernal’s contract this month. Moreover, the deal in question would see the 18-year-old midfield talent extend his stay at the club until 2029.

As for the player’s release clause, the pre-existing €500 million clause will be maintained as per the report. Reportedly, an agreement has been reached between the player’s camp and Barça over his extension, and several offers from other La Liga and Serie A teams have been rejected already.
His current contract remains active only until 2026, after which he would become a free agent unless the club can extend his deal. Fortunately, things seem to be progressing well on that end, and a renewal for Bernal could soon become a reality.
However, it is important to note that Bernal’s current contract, until 2026, already had an option to extend his stay at the club. For now, it is unclear whether the club is executing that extension option or is offering a new contract to the player altogether.
As for his recovery, that is something that the club remains extra cautious about. After all, ACL injuries are always serious, and it is a good thing that Barça is exerting this much caution.
The player’s quality is undeniable, but the intended caution and intention to renew his contract showcase just how much he is trusted by the Catalan club.
