Barcelona turn to AS Roma defender as Bastoni alternative but face strong competition | OneFootball

Barcelona are actively preparing for the summer transfer window, and strengthening the defence remains one of their top priorities. 

While Alessandro Bastoni continues to be the preferred option, the club is not taking any chances and has already started exploring alternatives.

According to SPORT, one name that has emerged strongly is Evan Ndicka, currently playing for AS Roma. 

The 26-year-old centre-back is being considered as a serious fallback option if Barcelona fail to land Bastoni in the summer.

Barcelona have already taken the first step. Earlier this month, the club made initial enquiries to understand Ndicka’s situation at Roma. 

Despite this, Bastoni remains at the top of the list. There is a growing belief that a deal could be possible, especially with the defender open to listening to an offer. 

At the same time, Inter Milan are not completely against negotiations, which keeps the situation alive.

Meanwhile, Ndicka is far from a straightforward alternative, as his performances have attracted interest from across Europe. 

Clubs like Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have already made checks on his availability, while Manchester United and Bayern Munich are also monitoring the situation closely.

Roma have set the price tag

Roma, for their part, are reluctant to lose a key defender. 

Ndicka has become an important figure in their backline, and the club do not want to weaken their squad easily. 

That said, their financial situation could force a different approach, and it is understood that offers exceeding €45 million would at least be considered.

However, interest from Europe’s elite clubs presents a difficult situation for Barcelona.

While Bastoni remain at the top of their agenda, they are not at all ruling out the scouting of potential alternatives.
