The 19-year-old right-back signed for Elche CF, joining fellow La Masia graduate Inaki Pena, hoping to play regularly and gain valuable experience in the Spanish top flight.

Barcelona happy with how things are going for Fort

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are very satisfied with the progress being made by Hector Fort during his loan spell at Elche in La Liga.

At the Ciutat Esportiva, the Catalans are closely monitoring the development of the right-back, convinced that the experience away from the club is helping him mature and gain the competitive rhythm he needed.

Given that Barcelona are looking to strengthen the right-back position by adding cover for Jules Kounde, Fort is viewed as a genuine future option who could eventually establish himself under Hansi Flick.

The La Masia product, who made his first-team debut under Xavi Hernandez, is responding well to the challenge of competing at the highest level at Elche.

His progression has been steady, and his impact within Eder Sarabia’s team is clearly increasing, both in terms of performance and importance.

After a slow start with limited involvement, he began to gain prominence from November onwards. Against Barcelona, despite playing only 20 minutes, he was one of Elche’s standout players, while he also stood out against Real Madrid.

So far this term, Fort has made 12 appearances in all competitions, registering two goals and two assists each. He has even been nominated for the La Liga U23 Player of the Month award for December.

The loan spell is fulfilling the objective set by Barcelona. The Blaugrana wanted Fort to experience a different footballing environment, take on responsibilities and accelerate his competitive and personal development away from the club.

There is a strong belief that the full-back, who can also play on the left side, is taking firm steps forward and that his name should remain very much in mind for the immediate future.
