Barcelona captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen is increasingly close to seeing his loan move to Girona formalised.
The German goalkeeper, who has a contract with the Blaugrana until 2028, underwent the required medical examinations and successfully passed them this afternoon at the Clínica Creu Blanca, reports Mundo Deportivo.
The initial plan was for Ter Stegen to travel to Girona to complete his medical, but severe wind and rain, together with recommendations not to travel in the area and surrounding districts, led to a change of plans.
As a result, the 33-year-old goalkeeper’s medical tests took place in Barcelona. Staff members from Girona did travel to the Catalan capital to accompany the German international.
As reported already, Ter Stegen said farewell to his Barcelona teammates earlier in the day before the squad’s trip to Prague, where they will face Slavia Prague in the Champions League on Wednesday.

With the medical now completed, an official announcement of his loan transfer appears only a matter of time.
The agreement between Barcelona and Girona was finalised on Monday with the exchange of documentation, after Ter Stegen had already reached an understanding with the Montilivi-based club days earlier.
Barcelona will assume 90% of the salary Ter Stegen was still due to receive until 30 June, while Girona will cover an amount close to €500,000.
Ter Stegen could make his debut for Michel’s Girona next Monday at home against Getafe.
However, he is not cleared to play against Barcelona on 14 or 15 February at Montilivi, as the loan agreement includes a ‘fear clause’ preventing him from playing against his parent club unless an indemnity of no less than €300,000 is paid.
