Barcelona and Real Sociedad will face off this Sunday evening at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in a LaLiga showdown.
Barça have been in impressive form this season, securing victory in six out of their seven matches across all competitions. Their recent 3-1 triumph over Real Oviedo marked their sixth consecutive league game without defeat this season.
However, squad selection poses a challenge for Hansi Flick’s team, especially in the goalkeeper position. Joan Garcia is sidelined for 4-6 weeks following meniscus surgery after picking up the injury late in the win against Real Oviedo. The Espanyol summer signing had been a regular starter before this setback. With Marc-André ter Stegen also ruled out due to a back issue, experienced keeper Wojciech Szczesny is set to make his first appearance of the season.
The injury woes stretch to the attack as well, with Raphinha expected to be out for around three weeks after suffering a hamstring injury. On a brighter note, Lamine Yamal is back in contention after missing four games with a groin injury. The 18-year-old, fresh off winning the Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, is likely to feature.
Meanwhile, midfielder Gavi remains unavailable long-term after undergoing knee surgery and is anticipated to be out for up to five months. Marc Casado is a doubt after reporting muscular discomfort during training sessions.
Possible Barcelona Predicted XI: Szczesny; Kounde, E Garcia, Araujo, Martin; De Jong, Casado; F Torres, Olmo, Rashford; Lewandowski
The game will begin at 5:30pm BST on Sunday, 28th September.
For supporters in the UK, the match will be broadcast live on Premier Sports 1.
