Although there are still some months left till the opening of the next transfer window, it is already appearing that FC Barcelona are going to have quite a busy summer as they are being linked with several incoming and outgoing operations.
In the latter category, there could be some surprise departures, and one player whose future is not entirely certain at the Catalan club is the forward Ferran Torres. The Spaniard’s contract expires in 2027, and the Blaugranes have a policy of not letting a player enter the last year of his contract. Thus, they will have to make a decision in this regard soon.
According to SPORT, a decision on this matter is still up in the air. There is no doubt that he had a very good 2024-25 season, and even this season, he has been more of a starter than Robert Lewandowski, with him having started 26 games as compared to the Pole’s 22.
However, he has not been able to get on the scoresheet since January 31, and this could have been a factor in why he has not received a renewal offer yet. Barcelona are looking to strengthen the center-forward position next summer, and this, along with Lewandowski’s future, could impact the club’s decision to offer Torres a new contract.
Meanwhile, Mateu Alemany has marked Ferran Torres to strengthen the Atletico Madrid attack for the next season. Barcelona can see this as an opportunity to bring in Julian Alvarez to their own team, but the Colchoneros want to have both of them in their squad. Thus, it remains to be seen what turn the forward’s future would take in the coming few months.
