The top-most priority of FC Barcelona for the 2026 summer transfer window is going to be the signing of a new center-forward, who would replace Robert Lewandowski in the team. Julian Alvarez is their preferred target for this role, and despite their recent setbacks in their bid to get him, the Blaugranes are set to continue their efforts after the World Cup.
Meanwhile, they have also not forgotten their defense, and are looking to reinforce this area of the team as well. For this purpose, they are currently negotiating the signing of Joao Cancelo, but also have some center-backs on their radar, despite their interest in Alessandro Bastoni having cooled lately.
For now, the Catalans have set their eyes on some younger options. In this regard, SPORT claims that Barcelona have already made some moves to know what City Group intends to do with the 20-year-old center-back Vitor Reis, whom they consider to be a very good fit for Flick’s team.
The Brazilian’s future is quite uncertain. He spent the last season on loan at Girona, but this option has practically closed down for him for the next season as the Catalan team has been relegated. Meanwhile, it also remains to be seen whether the new Manchester City coach, Enzo Maresca, would have him as a part of his plans for the next season.
On the other hand, his good ball distribution, silky touch, courage, and speed, are all highly valued by Barcelona, as they believe all these attributes make him a particularly suitable center-back for Hansi Flick. One factor that can facilitate an operation for the Blaugrana side is the good relations between Deco and the English side’s Sporting Director, Hugo Viana.
In the last few years, Vitor Reis has grown quite a lot, both with Brazil and with his club sides, and Barcelona fans would be hoping to see this story develop positively to have another highly promising center-back in their team.
