Barcelona are preparing to offer a new, upgraded contract to their rising star, Lamine Yamal, as according to a report from MARCA, the club plans to enhance his current deal this season and, once he turns 18 in July, extend his contract until 2030.

Since making his debut last season under Xavi, Yamal, whose current market value is €120 million, has made remarkable progress. His performance has been nothing short of extraordinary, proving himself as a key player for the team.

Yamal’s contribution during last summer’s European Championship, where he shone for the national team, showcased his growing potential. His recent display in Barcelona’s match against Girona is just another reminder of what he can offer.

So far this season, the 17-year-old has scored three goals and provided four assists, impressive numbers for a player of his age.

Improved contract on the horizon

Barcelona recognise his exceptional development, and although Yamal is still a teenager, his current contract no longer reflects his true value. It was only last October when he signed his latest contract, but since then, he has emerged as a vital figure for the club.

His financial compensation has lagged behind his on-field contributions, as he is currently earning around €1.5 million annually, which is considered below his worth, despite receiving a bonus for meeting objectives last season.

As a result, Barcelona are eager to improve Yamal’s financial terms this season, with the support of his agent, Jorge Mendes.

Negotiations are already underway to not only increase his salary but also lay the groundwork for a long-term contract that will tie him to the club until 2030.

The new contract will reflect Yamal’s current value and performance, giving him a salary befitting a player of his calibre.

Meanwhile, it’s important to note that Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly willing to pay €250 million for Yamal last season, a figure that even increased by the end of the campaign.

However, Barcelona are firm in their stance that they have no interest in entertaining offers for their prized young player, making it clear to PSG that Yamal is not for sale.
