Barcelona’s pursuit of Karim Adeyemi has not altered the club’s plans for Julian Alvarez, with the two transfer operations continuing on separate tracks.
According to Gerard Romero, Barcelona remain fully committed to bringing the Atletico Madrid forward to Camp Nou despite making significant progress in negotiations for the Borussia Dortmund winger.
The latest Barcelona transfer news reveals there is no debate over choosing one player over the other.
Instead, Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco view the potential arrivals as complementary moves that address different needs within the squad.
Following reports that Barcelona had submitted an official offer for Karim Adeyemi, speculation emerged over whether the move would end the club’s long-standing interest in Julian Alvarez.

However, the Spanish journalist has revealed that Barcelona’s stance remains unchanged.
According to the report, the club have made it clear that their pursuit of Alvarez is completely independent of negotiations with Borussia Dortmund.
Simply put, Barcelona have not abandoned Julian Alvarez and have absolutely no plan to do so in the future, regardless of the fact that Adeyemi is close to signing.
Instead, both transfers are being handled separately, with each player expected to fill a different role in Flick’s project.
As per Romero, Barça have said, “Thank you, but the fact is we’re fully focused on Julian; we only want Julian, and we’re convinced that he will be able to join through deals that have absolutely nothing to do with one another.”

Barcelona continue to view Julian Alvarez as the ideal player to lead their attack following Robert Lewandowski’s departure at the end of his contract.
In that regard, both Flick and Deco believe Alvarez has the qualities required to become Barcelona’s next reference point in attack, while Adeyemi would provide pace and flexibility across the frontline rather than serving as a direct replacement.
However, it is important to note that despite Barcelona’s determination, convincing Atletico Madrid remains the biggest obstacle.
The Madrid club have shown no indication of softening their position and remain reluctant to sanction a move that would strengthen one of their direct domestic rivals.
