It is rare for Barcelona to part ways with some of their most talented players from the academy, yet in 2019, they found themselves bidding farewell to Xavi Simons.

His departure stemmed from a desire for greater playing opportunities at a more competitive level.

While the midfielder struggled to hit the ground running immediately, Simons has steadily been proving his worth, with his loan spell at RB Leipzig going incredibly well.

And now that the summer transfer window edges closer, a reunion between Barça and the prodigal son is on the cards.

Simons is doing everything in his power to make the move happen

While PSG are reluctant to transfer Xavi Simons permanently, a successive loan deal is something the Parisian club are open to.

Reports have argued that Simons is in control of choosing his preferred destination on loan, with Barcelona ranked highest on his wishlist.

Now, as per Mundo Deportivo, Xavi Simons’ salary will fit within Barça’s Financial Fair Play.

On top of that, Simons is doing everything possible to get the loan move done, which further solidifies the Catalans’ chances of acquiring their former wonderkid.

Even though there is interest from European heavyweights like Arsenal and Bayern Munich, the 21-year-old’s desire to wear the Blaugrana jersey gives Barcelona an edge in the race.

PSG willing to comply

Apart from the aforementioned factors, Barcelona will take the biggest sigh of relief knowing that PSG are reportedly open to loaning Simons out to the Catalan giants.

Despite the two clubs known to not always be on the best of terms, PSG does not intend to present many hurdles, as they will respect Simons’ decision.
