Patricio Pacifico joined Barcelona in the recently concluded January transfer market to reinforce the Barça Atletic defence and possibly serve as a long-term option for the first team.
A left-footed defender and full-back by trade, his profile is very valuable for the Catalans.
The youngster arrived on loan with no direct obligation to buy, but a clause tied to his involvement with the club. Barcelona can secure up to 80% of his rights in exchange for a maximum of €3.8 million, which could well turn out to be a bargain.
After all, the Catalans can secure half of his rights for just €2 million and an additional 30% for an added €1.8 million.
In a recent interview via SPORT, Pacifico’s agent, German Krasouki, opened up on the youngster’s move to Catalonia and how it all transpired.
The agent revealed that Barcelona have been scouting the 19-year-old prospect for two years, with more intense focus on his games for six months.
“The club has been following him since he was 17 years old, when he played for Uruguay. And in the last six months, they have followed him very closely until the decision was made,” he said.

Speaking on what aspect of the youngster’s profile likely caught Barcelona’s eye, he said,
“I think Patricio has convinced them by the serenity he shows from behind in the game. He never panics, and that is the essence of Barça’s philosophy.”
The agent then spoke on the conditions governing the conversion of Pacifico’s loan move to a permanent transfer.
“If he plays ten games from 30 minutes, there is the obligation to buy fifty per cent of the rights for what was left in the contract. Barça has told us that there is an intention to make that clause effective, whether or not he plays the games.”
Finally, his agent opened up on how Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo has been in contact with the player to ease his adaptation, saying,
“Araujo contacted Patricio to help him with everything possible. Ronald is tangible proof that success is possible at Barça, and we will try to follow that path.”
