The board at La Liga champions Barcelona have not completely ruled out the possibility of parting ways with a key member of their midfield ranks this summer.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who highlight Fermín López as the player in question.

Midfielder Fermín is for his part of course fresh off another fine season on the books of Barcelona.

Despite acting as a backup to Dani Olmo for much of the campaign in Catalunya’s capital, the Spaniard carved out an important place for himself in Hansi Flick’s squad.

All told, in 46 appearances across all competitions, the 22-year-old racked up an impressive eight goals and 10 assists.

In turn, it may come as something of a surprise to learn that, in the case of a sufficient offer arriving over the weeks ahead, Barca would take into real consideration Fermín’s sale.

As per a report from Sport:

‘The club’s economic situation could lead to painful decisions. Fermín could be one of those affected. The signings of Nico Williams and Joan García add to the wage bill and Fermín is one of the names that is in the mind of the sporting management (as a potential sale).’

Though it would take a significant financial proposal, the Spanish international moving on this summer therefore cannot be ruled out.
