Barcelona’s ongoing search for a new left winger has led them to Italy, where Juventus’ Federico Chiesa has emerged as a strong candidate.

Over the past few hours, various rumours have circulated regarding the Italian star’s potential move to the Catalan giants.

However, according to Xavier Munoz via Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s pursuit of Chiesa has not yet progressed as the team has not make any move for the player.

The report mentions that Juventus’ new manager, Thiago Motta, has already made it clear that Chiesa is not part of his plans for the team and with his contract running until 2025, Juventus do not expect to fetch more than €10-15 million for him, even in the best-case scenario.

Barcelona are preparing an offer

What makes this situation even more intriguing is that, despite no official offer being made by Barcelona so far, it is believed that the club is preparing a bid in the region of €10 million to secure Chiesa’s services.

Furthermore, it must be noted that Chiesa currently earns €6 million per year at Juventus, but reports suggest he would be willing to accept a reduced salary of around €4.5 million per season if he were to join Barcelona.

The proposed contract could be a two-plus-two-year deal or a straightforward three-year agreement.

As of today, it is expected that the player himself has expressed a desire to move to Barcelona, which is a significant factor in the potential transfer. Additionally, Hansi Flick has also given his approval for the signing, which could expedite the process.

Now, the only hurdle left for Barcelona is to reach an agreement with Juventus, which might not be as difficult as it initially seems given the circumstances surrounding Chiesa’s contract.

In summary, while Barcelona’s interest in Chiesa is evident, the deal hinges on their ability to finalise terms with Juventus.

With both the player’s willingness to move and the club’s intent to sign him, it appears that a resolution could be on the horizon, potentially bringing Chiesa to Camp Nou sooner rather than later.
