Because of the ongoing Euro 2024 and Copa America tournaments, very few first team players will be present at the start of Barcelona’s pre-season training schedule, which gets underway next week. It means that many youngsters from Barca Atletic will be assessed by Hansi Flick, and one of those will be Aleix Garrido.

Garrido is highly valued within La Masia, and he is one of the players that has a decent chance of nailing down a place in the first team for next season. However, his chances of doing so have taken a hit, as Sport have reported that he will miss the start of pre-season training because of a recurring foot problem.

Garrido suffered the latest injury during Barca Atletic’s play-off victory over Ibiza, and it means that he will at least the opening stages of pre-season. He’s still expected to play some part, and could join the first team squad for their tour of the United States, which gets underway towards the end of July.

The injury does not come at a good time for Garrido, who is running out of time to secure a first team promotion. His contract at Barcelona expires in 2025, so his future could also be up in the air, too.
