A highly-regarded up-and-coming member of the youth ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is expected to be forced under the knife over the coming days.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Òscar Gistau as the player in question.

Gistau, for his part, is a 17-year-old striker, widely considered to be a future senior star in the making.

Despite his tender years, the Spaniard has been tipped by many as Barcelona’s future no.9, hailed for his goalscoring instincts and technical ability alike.

Gistau is currently sharing time between Barca’s U19 outfit, and Barca Atlètic.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media on Wednesday is anything to go by, then both sides look set to be forced to make do without the attacker’s contributions for the weeks and potentially months ahead.

As per a report from Sport, Gistau picked up an injury last weekend.

And after a round of medical tests, the understanding is that the starlet has suffered a meniscus tear in his knee.

As much will in turn see Gistau go under the knife, ahead of an extended incoming spell on the treatment table.
