An up-and-coming member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is expected to spend the best part of the next three months on the sidelines.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Òscar Gistau as the player in question.
Youngster Gistau was for his part forced under the knife this week.
This came after the 17-year-old – considered a star in the making behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital – suffered a knee injury whilst lining out for Barca Atlètic.
Initial reports pointed towards Gistau facing up to a spell of as long as five months out of action, owing to damage to the meniscus in his knee.
If the latest word stemming from the media on Tuesday is anything to go by, however, then the goalscorer’s absence will not be quite as prolonged.
As per a report from MD:
‘The external meniscus is less affected than the worst-case scenario suggested. He is expected to be out for 10 to 12 weeks.’
