An emerging member of the academy ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is continuing to earn the trust of Hansi Flick with the level of his performances in first-team training.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who highlight Xavi Espart as the player in question.

Youngster Espart has for his part emerged as an increasingly prominent figure in Catalunya’s capital over recent weeks.

Amid the ongoing injury crisis in Barcelona’s senior squad, the defender, who chiefly operates at right-back, has been afforded the chance to impress alongside the likes of Jofre Torrents and Toni Fernández.

And if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then this is an opportunity which Espart appears to have taken full advantage of.

As per a report from Diario Sport, the young defender is ‘consolidating himself in the first-team dynamic’.

Both his performances and versatility have been ‘liked’ by Hansi Flick and his staff, impressed by Espart’s ability to line out not only at the back, but also in midfield.

A first-team bow, in turn, is thought to be inching ever closer for the Spaniard.
