Clarification surrounding the ongoing links between Barcelona and Aston Villa star Emiliano Martínez has this week been forthcoming online.

This comes amid confirmation that the Argentine’s arrival in Catalunya’s capital is all but ruled out.

The name of shot-stopper Martínez has of course proven a prominent one in the headlines surrounding Barcelona over recent days.

Amid the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the future of Wojciech Szczęsny, the Barcelona brass have been forced to scour the market, for a potential replacement in the case of the Pole moving on.

And Martínez’s is one name to have been touted by several outlets as a contender to arrive at the Camp Nou in the summer.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest update on the situation to have surfaced in Spain is anything to go by, then any such move appears highly unlikely to come to fruition.

As per a report from Marca:

‘Dibu Martínez has been mentioned, but in this case, the salary he earns in England makes his signing unviable.’
