The board at La Liga giants Barcelona are already working on a deal for an alternative, in the case that the signing of Julián Alvarez cannot be completed before the summer is out.
This comes amid the understanding that the Blaugrana are ‘exploring’ the possibility of bringing in Bournemouth sensation Eli Junior Kroupi.
Deco and co. have of course long been hard at work, to add a new centre-forward to Hansi Flick’s squad for next season. Following the free agent departure of Robert Lewandowski, the aforementioned Julián Alvarez was quickly named as the first-choice target of the Spanish champions.
To date, however, La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid have point-blank refused to open the door to the sale of their Argentine international.
As a result, Barcelona have been forced to seek out alternative options.
And as alluded to above, early this week, an insight into these efforts has come to the fore online. The info comes courtesy of market insider Fabrizio Romano, who has confirmed:
‘Barcelona have explored Eli Junior Kroupi as an option over recent weeks in case Julián Álvarez deal doesn’t advance.’
It is also noted, however, that Bournemouth currently have no intention of entertaining talks over youngster Kroupi’s potential departure.
