According to SPORT, FC Barcelona do not consider Ferran Torres’ future to be an immediate issue. The club have already outlined their strategy regarding the forward and have no intention of changing course.

Ferran’s current contract expires on 30 June, and Barcelona have informed his representatives that they are willing to offer him a new deal.

However, formal negotiations are expected to begin in September in order to avoid complications linked to the club’s salary cap.

It is an approach the club has followed before and one that will also apply to Marc Bernal, who is awaiting an improved contract extension.

If Ferran wishes to leave, whether because of reported interest from PSG or any other club, Barça believe the initiative must come from the player. He would need to request a meeting with the club to discuss his future and reach a decision.

Barcelona’s intention is to keep Ferran not only for the coming season but also as part of their long-term plans.

The Catalans are pleased with both his attacking output and his professionalism. They deliberately delayed discussions over a new contract until there was greater clarity regarding the centre-forward position within the squad.

With Robert Lewandowski’s departure now resolved, Barcelona have informed Ferran’s camp that contract talks will resume in September.

Decision rests with the player

Barcelona have no plans to sell the Spain international. However, they acknowledge that Ferran could decide to pursue a move elsewhere if another club offers improved financial terms and a more prominent role.

PSG have shown interest in signing him, but Ferran, who is currently on holiday, must first decide whether he wants to remain at Barcelona. That decision could come when he returns from his holiday in early August.

There is a sense of calm within Barcelona regarding the situation. Club officials believe that if Ferran chooses to leave, they will simply seek the best possible agreement for all parties.

Following the recent World Cup and the current transfer market, Barcelona value the forward at around €50 million, which they believe reflects his current market worth.

Striker plans continue

For now, Barcelona continue to count on Ferran as one of their options at centre-forward while they pursue the signing of another elite striker to strengthen the squad.

If that arrival is completed, the Spain international understands that his opportunities to start regularly could become more limited.

The La Liga champions are also considering signing a second striker if Ferran ultimately leaves the club.

At present, there have been no further discussions, with the club waiting to see whether the player decides to initiate talks over his future.
