Barcelona’s two possible scenarios for the future of young whizkid this summer

Vitor Roque is staring at an uncertain summer, especially considering the fact that he will no longer be registered at Barcelona after June 30.

Indeed, Roque is set to drop out of La Liga after June 30 as he is going to be de-registered. That is because Barcelona’s salary mass remains overstretched and the club are not in a position to register these two players.

Barcelona were operating with Vitor Roque this season largely thanks to Gavi’s injury, as La Liga laws state that a club can utilise 80% of an injured player’s salary to accommodate a fresh player in the squad.

Everything changes after July 1

Roque’s bureaucratic situation is set to undergo significant changes starting July 1, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Under La Liga parameters, FC Barcelona must adhere to financial regulations, including the salary limit and financial fair play. Roque’s registration beyond June 30 will thus depend on the club’s financial flexibility.

Due to Barcelona’s overstretched salary mass, the club must adhere to the 50% rule, limiting their ability to reuse funds from player sales for new registrations. This limitation may impact their ability to re-register Roque.

Scenario 1: Barcelona re-register Roque

If Barcelona are able to register Vitor Roque, the club will have to make a decision as to whether or not the Brazilian international will stay at Camp Nou.

The forward, after all, has gone through a difficult start to his life at Barça. His presence in the first team, therefore, can add to the club’s salary mass and potentially block other transfers.

Scenario 2: Barcelona fail to register Roque

Should FC Barcelona find themselves unable to register Roque due to financial constraints, several scenarios come into play.

One option is to transfer or loan Roque to another team. The 19-year-old’s signing with Athletico Paranaense extends until 2031, making him a player owned by FC Barcelona after June 30.

This opens the possibility for a transfer or loan deal if he cannot be registered with the first team.
