The winners of the Barclays Women’s Super League 2 awards for October have been confirmed. The monthly WSL2 awards cover Manager of the Month, Player of the Month, and Goal of the Month.
Keep reading below for a full list of the award winners this month.
Charlton Athletic wing-back Jodie Hutton emerged victorious as October’s Player of the Month. Winning the combined public and panel vote, the 24-year-old Aston Villa academy graduate has impressed at the start of the season.
Scoring three goals in six games this season, Hutton’s efforts alone have secured the Addicks four points from both October games to remain top of the league standings. She netted twice against Sunderland away from home, and again against her old side, Sheffield United. Her stunning free-kick against the Blades was also nominated for October Goal of the Month.
Other nominees included Durham keeper Catriona Sheppard and Southampton’s Jess Simpson. Newcastle United midfielder Morgan Gautrat was also nominated after impressive displays since her loan move from Orlando Pride.
Meanwhile, Bristol City captain Vicky Losada topped the voting polls for Goal of the Month, courtesy of her strike against Durham.
Her first goal for the Bristol club finished off a beautiful team move as she headed home from close range. Now sitting fourth in the table, Bristol City will hope to make the next block of games count to advance into the promotion positions.
Losada beat the likes of Newcastle’s Lois Joel, Portsmouth’s Georgie Freeland, Nottingham Forest’s Hollie Olding and Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah. The aforementioned Jodie Hutton was also in contention, but the Spaniard’s effort came out on top.

Elsewhere, the panel voted Southampton’s Simon Parker as Manager of the Month.
His side enjoyed back-to-back wins in October, including a 2-1 victory away at promotion-chasers Birmingham City. The Saints then experienced an emphatic 5-2 win over south-coast rivals Portsmouth. Heading into the international break, Southampton sit third in the league standings — only three points behind leaders Charlton.
