Newcastle United entertained Bournemouth at St. James’ Park earlier today as they hoped to secure a good result at home in the Premier League. The Magpies made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the ninth minute when Marcus Tavenier got his name on the scoresheet. Malick Thiaw scored an unfortunate own goal in the 35th minute, but Harvey Barnes got a goal back for Newcastle just a couple of minutes later. The Tyneside club went into the half-time break 2-1 down on the scoreline.

Matthias Jaissle’s men pushed on in search of the equaliser in the second half and finally found it in the 88th minute thanks to Jacob Ramsey’s brilliant finish. The match ended with Newcastle earning a hard-fought 2-2 draw in front of their home fans.

LB: Lewis Hall – 7/10

He was a positive influence at both ends of the field and has an assist to show for his efforts.

CM: Nico Gonzalez – 6/10

Gonzalez failed to protect his backline but caught the eye at times inside the opponent’s half.

CM: Lewis Miley – 6/10

He worked hard but failed to get a foothold in the game.

RW: Anthony Elanga – 6/10

Elanga made a few inviting chances in the final third, but there was no goal for him.

CAM: Joe Willock – 6/10

He made one good run with the ball, but never looked like he would score.

Barnes scored a beauty in the first half and came back to defend when he could.
