Lazio coach Marco Baroni praised his men who delivered a solid performance on Sunday against Genoa. The Biancocelesti rose to the fourth spot in the Serie A table by beating the Grifone by three unanswered goals courtesy of Tijjani Noslin, Pedro and Matias Vecino.
In his post-match interview with DAZN (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the 61-year-old tactician noted how his team displayed maturity in their convincing display at the Stadio Olimpico.
It was a mature performance, with great character and solidity. These are difficult, complicated matches. It wasn’t easy, we couldn’t find the right match rhythm. However, the game was always under control. I’m happy with the result. The three goals came from Noslin, and then from two substitutes. This shows that whoever comes in at the most delicate moment of the match is able to make the difference.
Baroni was pleased with Noslin’s outing after scoring a brilliant opener. The Dutchman was a last-minute addition to the starting lineup as Mattia Zaccagni had to drop out of the match after falling sick. Nevertheless, the manager urges his Verona pupil to further improve his game.
Noslin still has to evolve, I know how big his potential is. You all saw the goal he scored. He and some of the others used to be the most important players at their old clubs, but now, they have to raise their level. They are working hard to I’m glad about it.
The manager insists he isn’t surprised by Pedro who continues to defy Father Time thanks to his incredible work rate.
I’m not surprised, as he’s player who trains so hard and he’s in a great physical shape. We enjoy having him among the ranks. We’re still rubbing our eyes. We also have to manage his game time, but the same goes for all others. Nevertheless, Pedro trains like a 27-year-old.
Lazio have finally registered their first clean sheet in Serie A, and Baroni reiterated how they don’t concede too many shots.
We always aim to attack, and I have the right players for this game plan. This team expresses itself best when it attacks. We don’t take too many shots, this means that the team has to defend by surging forward.
The former Lecce and Verona manager also noted that he wants his wingers to cut inside and help in grabbing goals.
