The Corinthians derby at Vila Belmiro on Sunday at 16:00 could be key for Barreal as he tries to win back a starting role at Santos.

The Argentine faces an opponent against whom he delivered a decisive display last season that helped cement his status at the club, Globo.com notes.

In last year's Brasileirão meeting he produced one of his best games, scoring a fine goal and providing an assist in a 3-1 win.

That performance helped him secure a regular starting spot, and he ended 2025 as Santos' top scorer in the Brasileirão with nine goals.

This season has been different. He has two goals and, in a strengthened squad with more attacking options, has started the last two matches on the bench.

Santos have bought his economic rights from Cincinnati FC, and his current deal runs until the end of 2029.
