Lucas Beltrán is unlikely to face Alavés on Sunday, unless there is a major surprise. According to AS, the Argentine striker again skipped first-team training this morning.

If he does not train tomorrow, it will make two full weeks without a session. There is no official medical bulletin, but it is suggested he is dealing with patellar tendinitis and is receiving daily treatment from the physios.

That leaves Corberán unlikely to include him, and it would be his third straight match out, Villarreal, Osasuna and Alavés. Since scoring away to Atlético at the Metropolitano, he had been an undisputed starter and central to Corberán’s plans.

The club would be keen for him to stay next season and the player shares that wish, though a renewed loan with Fiorentina would need to be negotiated.

In his absence, Corberán could stick with the same starting side that beat Osasuna on the last matchday at Mestalla. Ugrinic has been pushed higher and Javi Guerra has partnered Guido Rodríguez in midfield. Even with a miraculous recovery, Beltrán would not start against Alavés.
