Basar Önal rejects Serie A move in order to remain with NEC Nijmegen | OneFootball

ESPN are reporting that Basar Önal has rejected two moves to remain in the Eredivisie with NEC Nijmegen. The first move that the forward rejected was to join Pisa SC in Serie A. The side are currently sitting in 19th place, one of the three relegation zones. Pisa were only promoted to Serie A last season and clearly want to strengthen in January in order to remain in Serie A.

The other move rejected by Önal was to Turkish giants Besiktas, who are currently fifth in the Turkish Super Lig. Besiktas have long been admirers of Önal, having tried to sign him a few seasons ago when he was playing for De Graafschap. However, the youngster then joined NEC for around €1m, and it is expected that his next move will see the side recoup far more than that.

Önal is having a fantastic season with NEC, who themselves are enjoying a great campaign. In 15 games this season the winger has scored three goals and provided seven assists. For context, he scored one goal and added three assists in 36 games last season. It is hardly surprising that clubs in the Turkish top flight and Serie A are looking to sign hi this January.
