Saturday's Ligue 2 fixture between Bastia and Le Mans was abandoned in stoppage time and will now go before the LFP's disciplinary commission. According to L'Équipe, a decision is due on Wednesday.
An urgent video meeting was held and a formal investigation has been opened.
The match, played on the final day, carried major stakes for Le Mans' push for Ligue 1 and for Bastia's survival bid. It was halted after fireworks and flares were thrown onto the pitch following Le Mans' second goal at 90+1.
Bastia's home season has already been marked by trouble. In December they forfeited the game against Red Star after a flare thrown from the stands struck an opposing player on the back, and received a suspended one-point deduction.
There is little doubt over the outcome. Le Mans' victory will be validated, confirming promotion, while Bastia's relegation to Ligue 3 will be ratified.
Bastia will be sanctioned with at least one match behind closed doors at the start of the next campaign. A fine could also be imposed, and the suspended points penalty could be activated.
