Bastian Schweinsteiger says Arsenal man is a difference-maker

Bastian Schweinsteiger was impressed with Christos Tzolis’ performance for the Greek national team against Germany, naming the Arsenal attacker among the game changers who helped Greece secure a historic victory over the Germans.

Tzolis joined Arsenal this season from Club Brugge after enjoying a fantastic campaign in Belgium, and so far, he has looked comfortable for the Gunners in both domestic and European competitions. Arsenal are confident they have signed a quality attacker capable of replacing Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, who both left the team in the last transfer window.

The Greek has been one of the top signings made in the Premier League this season, and he has also continued to perform well whenever he represents his country. His contribution against Germany provided another example of his importance to Greece.

Tzolis Impresses Against Germany

Greece have struggled for several years, but the emergence of Tzolis and other young players could help them become a top footballing nation again in the near future.

Schweinsteiger had hoped Germany would win in Jurgen Klopp’s second game as their manager, but Greece had other plans. The Greeks secured the victory with the help of several fine individual performances, including those from Tzolis.

The Arsenal attacker was among the players Schweinsteiger identified as making a difference during the match.

Schweinsteiger Highlights Difference Makers

The former midfielder pointed to Tzolis and two other Greek attackers when explaining why Greece were able to make the difference against Germany.

He said via the Metro:

‘Those who make the difference. If you look at Greece today, if you take Karetsas or Tzolis or Pavlidis up front, those were difference-makers for me. And for the Greeks today too. And we just don’t have them.’

For Greece, the emergence of Tzolis and other players offers encouragement after several difficult years. For Arsenal, his latest performance provides another indication of the quality they believe they have added to their attacking options.
